STREAM J.A.M.I.T. FEAT. EGYPTIAN LOVER: bit.ly/1vpzL8C

CHECK EPISODE ONE OF THE DOCUMENTARY "I WISH I COULD BE IN THE NBA" HERE: bit.ly/1t51cOL

This EP is a collaboration between Serato, Ninja Tune and the New York based artist / producer and serial collaborator Nick Hook across music, art and film.

The next instalment in the "Serato Pressings" series (following on from The Gaslamp Killer with his Break Stuff project) Hook's Collage v.1 EP finds him in out-and-out club mode, delivering a fistful of razor-edged dancefloor jams backed by a dizzying cast of guests. Bonafide legends such as hip-hop/electro pioneer Egyptian Lover; garage maestro Todd "The God" Edwards; and synth hero Bernie "Dr. Woo" Worrell (Parliament Funkadelic, Talking Heads) rub up alongside fresh NY talent: rappers Bodega Bamz, Kilo Kish and Crystal Caines; Jersey Club cohorts Nadus and DJ Sliink; LuckyMe's DJ Paypal; and Cmat.

On paper it's an intriguing blend of old and new… a unique hi-octane musical collision, but one that could easily wind up in a disastrous soup of egos. Herein lies the genius of Nick Hook the producer and musical director then, because he's conjured 5 truly compelling club cuts on Collage v.1. Effortlessly versatile, he has all corners of the club covered, carving out classic electro with Egyptian Lover; switching up the 808 sonic boom to 11 for the Brick City inspired, Missy/LL Cool J referencing 'Going Back 2'; and conjuring true bump and hustle from Bernie Worrell on the Quincy-Jones-meets-The-Neptunes jam 'Wurly'.

How does he do it? Well, displaying genius-like foresight, the good folks at Serato were wondering the same thing. The story and characters were so intriguing that they decided to document the adventure from beginning to end - from the studio to the pressing plant - LA > NY > Nashville - culminating in a 5-part video series where the first four episodes cover the recording and production of each track, and the fifth revolves around the other side of the process: the artwork production, mixing and mastering and the physical production of the vinyl record. It's the story behind the story, an unprecedented insight into how Nick works.

Nick Hook's Collage v.1 Serato pressing will be available 16th December 2014 via the Serato Online Store and at selected retailers. An extended edition of the EP will also be available digitally.
